OCCHE, China-Spain Commercial Office

Our origins: more than 30 years of dealings with China

OCCHE was not born in an office, but on the factory floor. The Solanes family has been dedicated to industrial rubber for more than 50 years and, since the early 1990s, has worked with China's best manufacturers in the sector to consolidate their international expansion.

From industrial rubber to China

In the early 1990s, when few European companies were looking towards China, the Solanes family was already working with China's leading industrial rubber manufacturers: hoses, sheeting, conveyor belts, gaskets and moulded parts. The relationship began as supply and grew into a shared internationalisation project.

A series of long-term agreements, built on friendship and economic continuity, led to joint ventures and investments in several of those factories. That first-hand experience, as partner and as investor, is what we apply today to our clients' projects.

The trust of the institutions

These efforts were well regarded by the Chinese public authorities and brought the Solanes family close to city halls and provincial governments, especially in Shandong province and in Beijing.

After years of effort and collaboration, the Chinese institutions placed their trust in Esteve Solanes to represent China's economic interests in Spain. From that trust, formalised in November 2009, the China-Spain Trade Office was born.

Why it matters today

Three decades of dealing with factories, bureaus and local governments translate into something very concrete for anyone who wants to import from China, export to China or set up there today: knowing who to call, how negotiations really work and which procedures are genuinely necessary. That is the foundation of all our services.

Frequently asked questions

Who founded OCCHE?

OCCHE was driven by Esteve Solanes, of the Solanes family, dedicated to industrial rubber and with trade and investment relationships in China since the early 1990s.

What is OCCHE's connection with the rubber industry?

It is where OCCHE comes from. The Solanes family's collaboration with Chinese industrial rubber manufacturers, which led to joint ventures and investments, generated the institutional trust that gave rise to OCCHE.

Why Shandong and Qingdao?

Because it was in Shandong province, and in Qingdao in particular, that the relationship with city halls and provincial governments was consolidated. Today Qingdao is, together with Barcelona, one of OCCHE's two bases.
